Second, put a fresh memory card in your camera with plenty of storage capacity so you don’t get an annoying “card full” message when your Bichon Frise finally strikes that perfect pose. Third, start with fresh batteries. Fourth, decide whether you’ll take pictures of your Bichon Frise inside or outside, and secure the location if you decide to shoot outside. Fifth, make sure all your backdrops and props are ready and close at hand. Sixth, have an idea of the different poses that you want to capture.

When you’re trying to take great pictures of your Bichon Frise, you can’t also be the one who does all the grooming, staging and other behind-the-scenes tasks. Ask a friend who gets along well with your dog to act as your assistant. After the photo session is over, give your helper a thank-you gift with one of the photos on it. A coffee mug or a framed print of one of your Bichon Frise photos is a good idea for a gift.
There’s nothing worse than taking a great Bichon Frise pictures only to find, when you look at it on screen, that it has a cluttered background, with laundry, dishes or newspapers taking focus away from your dog. To avoid clutter, use a solid-colored background to make your Bichon Frise look great and focus attention on your dog. Put any background in your Bichon Frise pictures by using a chromatic green backdrop. With a chromatic green backdrop, your background will disappear, and you can insert virtually any backdrop you can find into your picture. You can add ocean, mountains or any other scene to your picture without leaving your home.

Look at a few Bichon Frise pictures, and you’ll notice right away that the best ones are taken at the dog’s eye level. Don’t hesitate to set your dog up on a table or bed to raise its height. Remember, safety first! Have your assistant monitor the situation so your dog doesn’t fall off.

With these great tips, soon you’ll be taking amazing candid shots or portrait style pictures of your Bichon Frise.

Your Bichon Frise pictures will stand out if you use interesting backdrops and photograph your dog at its eye level. Collect photos, anecdotes, and other Bichon Frise, information to use with your dog’s photos in your scrapbook.

The Most Popular Siberian Husky Mixed Breeds

by Pet Care on December 24, 2008

Of the hundreds of different breeds of dog that you can choose to have as a pet, one that you may not have considered but definitely should is the Siberian Husky mix. The Siberian Husky mixed breeds are great because they offer the appeal of a Siberian Husky but also the uniqueness and positive qualities of the other breed as well.

Just make sure that you are aware that although there are many positive characteristics of Siberian Huskies and Siberian Husky mixed breeds, at the same time there are also many things that they bring that you may not want to deal with. They tend to be very hyper and rowdy for instance, and this can definitely be hard for a lot of people to put up with. They also have strong instincts to chase and grab anything that runs and so you will have to make sure that you have them properly trained before trying to get them to socialize.
One of the biggest concerns that you should have with Siberian Husky mixed breeds involves providing them with enough exercise. They are very energetic and athletic dogs and need a certain amount of activity to stay healthy and happy. They must have regular opportunities to vent their energy otherwise they will become overly rambunctious and bored. Also keep in mind that unless you want to specifically have a dog for sledding or backpacking or other outdoor related activity, then you should probably not consider this breed.

Their strong chasing instincts also need to be realized, and this is very important because most Siberian Husky mixed breeds have strong instincts to chase after anything they see moving or running away, including cats, deer and other livestock. You need to make sure that you are going to have patience and that you will be willing and able to keep the dog under control and keep them from running wild.
Not many people would consider a Siberian Husky mix as their first choice for a pet dog, but it is going to be to your benefit to do so. They are great dogs, friendly and loving, and if properly trained they make great family pets. If you have decided that you do in fact want one of these dogs as a pet, the next step is going to be finding a pet shop that offers these breeds of dogs.

Siberian mixed breeds of any sort are often difficult to find, so it may take a bit of time but if you check around at a few different stores and particularly specialty pet shops then you should be able to find a Siberian mixed breed dog for sale. You are going to fall in love with your dog as soon as you get them home, and they will become more than a pet, they will become a good friend. We all love our pets, but these breeds are so unique and incredible that they are definitely special.

If properly trained and well taken care of, Siberian Husky mixed breeds can be great pets and perfect for any family. Siberian Huskies are fabulous dogs but you will want to know all the important Siberian Husky information before deciding on this as the breed for you.

The Shar Pei Dog

by Pet Care on December 24, 2008

The blue Shar Pei is one of the rare colors when it comes to Shar Pei. To obtain a blue colored puppy takes a significant amount of breeding and careful planning. These dogs are great with children and have a wonderful temperament. Because they are a more rare color, expect to pay more for these cute adorable wrinkled dogs. The Shar Pei has its origins in China where it was breed for intelligence, scowling wrinkled face and strength.

They were originally bred as a general-purpose dog for around the farm. They were used for things like hunting, protecting livestock and the family in general. They were later used for things like fighting since the large amounts of excess skin and the prickly coat made it difficult for other dogs to keep a hold of. In 1973, the breed was introduced to the U.S. through a dog magazine, by a Hong Kong businessperson. It quickly grew in popularity and now has a registered foundation stock of more than 70,000 dogs.
Known for being a reserved breed, the Shar Pei tends to think for them selves and will be overly affectionate, loyal and extremely devoted to those it considers family. The royal family of China created the breed to protect them and their families. This powerful dog is willing to die if needed to protect its family and home. The blue Shar Pei in its rareness is one of the more expensive of the breeds as a warning to the buyer. The Shar Pei was introduced to an U.S. dog magazine in 1973 by a businessperson out of Hong Kong.

There is a need to keep them in very socialized environments and give them the proper training because the breed tends to turn overly aggressive and protective of its territory. Nevertheless, even with training and happy social environments, they will keep their guard dog tendencies, being suspicious of strangers or barking at them.
A blue Shar Pei is a rare color and so you should expect to pay more for this type of Shar Pei. They are beautiful animals and have a great temperament so they are good with children, unlike their possible ancestors the chow. They are a very active breed of dog so be sure you have either a yard to allow them to run around in, or you have the time to walk and play with them. Because of the excess skin and how it is lays on the dog, as well as the coat, these animals are more likely to suffer from the heat so plenty of shade and water needs to be available to them if they are outside. These dogs weight between forty and fifty-five pounds so they are considered medium sized animals be sure to check with your home owners’ association or apartment complex before purchasing one. Blue Shar Pei’s make a great addition to any household so why not consider one of these lovely dogs the next time you are looking for a pet to being into your home.

There are various Shar Pei types available. They are wonderful dogs suitable for any type of family. If you want Shar Pei information check with local breeders and buyers to see what they have to say.

Thinking Of Getting A Miniature Beagle?

by Pet Care on December 24, 2008

You’ve heard of the old saying, “What’s old is new again”? This certainly applies to the resurgence in popularity of miniature Beagles, which were dogs of royalty hundreds of years ago. Beagles themselves are miniatures of Foxhounds (according to the breed standard). Miniature animals were great curiosities for the rich and powerful of Europe (note the appearance of miniature horses and the rise of toy dogs). Miniature animals have gotten back into favor since more and more dog lovers have less land to exercise their dogs.

The first recorded miniature Beagle was in the 1300’s. They appear in royal portraits with noses pointier than today’s standards and legs more like Corgis or Bassett Hounds than the rangy Beagle. Lovers of Beagle information found that miniature Beagles were also called “Pocket Beagles” and “Glove Beagles.” Sometimes today they are advertised as “Teacup Beagles”, although the term “Miniature Beagles” is much preferred.
Miniature Beagles are part of the growing group of dogs known as “designer dogs”. Although designer dogs can include hybrids and mixes for the desired result, many designer dog breeders focus their efforts at producing miniature versions of popular breeds. Officially the American Kennel Club (AKC) does not recognize a breed called “Miniature Beagles”. “Miniature Beagles” seems to be more of an advertising gimmick to catch the eyes of someone who is looking specifically for a small dog. With the popularity of small dogs used as fashion accessories by starlets like Paris Hilton, any small dog that looks different from the usual suspect breeds will draw attention.

Beagles are officially shown in two classes in AKC sanctioned shows. Beagles are measured at their withers like horses in order to determine how tall they are. There is an over thirteen inches high class and a less than thirteen inches high class. The average height of a Beagle is thirteen inches. Although a Beagle over fifteen inches tall is disqualified there is no lower height limit.
Although it might be tempting to breed your pet miniature Beagle, do yourself and the dog a favor by getting him neutered or her spayed as soon as they hit six months of age. Neutering and spaying cannot only protect the dog from some cancers, but will cut out the distraction of looking for a mate so they can focus on paying more attention to you. Leave dog breeding to the professionals.

Miniature Beagles are very social animals that love company. They also love to be the center of attention. Perhaps they can remember their days when miniature Beagles were the prized pets of European royalty in the 1300’s – 1400’s. Queen Elizabeth I was said to have one. Your home will, indeed be your miniature Beagle’s castle. Your miniature Beagle will give you lots and lots of non-judgmental companionship, so be willing to give some to your dog in return.

It is hoped that by spreading accurate information about all Beagle types they will be bred more responsibly. This author is currently writing a book about designer dogs, and plans to include a section on miniature Beagle information.

The Pros And Cons Of Rottweiler Mixes

by Pet Care on December 24, 2008

People have never been able to leave anything alone – including dogs. They are always wondering if they can breed a better dog. One of the purebreds used for designer dogs – hybrids of two pure bred dogs. Some of the most famous hybrid dogs are Labradoodles (Labrador Retrievers and Standard Poodles) and Puggles (Pug and Beagle). Because of the general magnificence of the Rottweiler, they have been used for no less than six hybrids recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club, founded in 1969.

When this writer was in England, a common hybrid you would come across was a Rottweiler and German Shepherd cross. This made for big black and tan dogs that needed a lot of exercise, a lot of food, but not a lot of grooming. They were very protective and needed experienced dog owners to train them. However, this cross has apparently not caught on in America, as the cross is not listed among the recognized Rottweiler mixed breeds.
And the Rottweiler mixed breeds recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club keep on coming. A cross between an Afghan Hound and a Rottweiler is a Rottaf. A cross between a Rottweiler and an English Bulldog is an English Bullweiler. And a cross between a Brussells Griffon and a Rottweiler is (are you ready) a Brotweiler. Less comically and more practically, a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Rottweiler is called a Labrottie and is hoped to calm the Rottweiler down, while still retaining both breed’s love of their families.

You can’t show these dogs in a big show like Westminster, but Rottweiler mixed breeds can make excellent companions and friends. You do need to know the traits of both breeds involved in the mix before you go adopt or purchase one. You need to learn as much Rottweiler information as you can as well as much information on the other breed. The odds are, any Rottweiler mix will be a high-energy dog that is protective and wary of strangers.
The future looks good for a Rottweiler mix, as the breeding of them seems to be more concerned with making a healthy, happy family companion. The good traits of being a guard dog and gentle with kids seems to be crossing (for the most part) to the designer dog offspring. Any big dog needs a lot of space and a lot of food. Be ready to clean up a lot of messes as well.

Large, active dogs often do not know their own strength and may accidentally hurt you. Rottweiler mixes seem to be more exuberant and high on life than mean or vicious. Any large dog needs a healthy diet and regular exercise to help curb the energy. They also really should be neutered, as this will not only make them healthier, but more eager to pay attention to your wishes. Rottweiler mixes are often incredibly beautiful dogs with big feet.

Rottweiler mixed breeds deserve all of the same attention as Rottweiler purebreds. Realy good Rottweiler information can be found at the library or on the Internet.

Long Coated German Shepherds Are Sweeter Than The Short Hair

by Pet Care on December 24, 2008

Most people are not familiar with the long coated German Shepherd. This is basically because the AKC does not consider it a registered standard German Shepherd. The breed standard German Shepherd is short haired with an obvious undercoat. However, the long coated German Shepherd is an absolutely beautiful dog to the eye and the general public has fallen in love with this dog. They make wonderful working dogs, are very gentle with assistance work, are great with police work and make the best pets.

With these types of features an owner doesn’t need to be included in the American Kennel Club registry because they feel they already have the best and most beautiful dog on earth. The long coated German Shepherd seems to be sweeter and more comical than the short haired German Shepherd. The shorthaired German Shepherd is by far more dominant and only about ten percent of all German Shepherd pups are the long coated variety.
The biggest difference between the long coated German Shepherd and the short haired German Shepherd is the length of the coat. The long coated German Shepherd simply has longer hair. There are distinct characteristics that the long coated German Shepherd’s hair has which is different to a short hair, but the biggest difference is the longer coat. A long coated German Shepherd’s hair is very soft and parts along the back of the dog. There are ear tufts and fringe and long hair between the toes of a long coated German Shepherd and they have big bushy tails and huge pantaloons. It’s easy to spot a long coated German Shepherd puppy because of the ear tufts and fringe. Long coated German Shepherds also do not have undercoats, which does not make them waterproof and one of the main reasons the American Kennel Club will not allow them to be registered. Long coated German Shepherds also do not shed as much as the shorthaired German Shepherds.
When looking for a good family pet, a long coated German Shepherd should be on top of your list. They are almost the outcast of their breed which in some ways makes them the runts of their litter and who can’t help but love the runt of the litter. Long coated German Shepherds are very gentle, soft and large animals. They are funny in their own canine comical way and are very sweet dogs. They adore affection and give back as much as they get. Just because this dog is not waterproof should not deter you from considering it for a family pet.

They are smart and work with assisted living patients. They are great police dogs and they are very good working dogs. All of these references add up to a total package of a good, smart, well-rounded and extremely capable dog. Don’t let a silly thing like not belonging to the American Kennel Club stop you from owning the best dog in the world.

The basic difference between German Shepherd types is the length of the coat. Researching German Shepherd information will give you an exact idea of the differences between the varieties.

Facts To Known About Long Haired Chihuahua

by Pet Care on December 24, 2008

The Chihuahua is the universally accepted smallest dog breed. It is very popular among people from different backgrounds. The recent trend suggests an increasing celebrity ownership for this special type of dog. There are different views about the actual origin of the Chihuahua. While many researchers argue that it was the gift from Aztec royalty and then brought to United States through Mexico by the Spanish settlers, some others believe ancient Egypt was the original root of Chihuahua and then it made its journey to Mexico, and then Spain.

The long haired Chihuahua has a significant similarity to the Pomeranian because of their smooth undercoat with a long overcoat. The hair of this dog is known as “long coats” or “smooth coats”, as specified by the American Kennel Club (AKC). They look very cute with their lovely big eyes, apple-shaped head and fringed ears. A standard Chihuahua may have the height of six to nine inches. However, the show dogs have lower weight than those dogs not groomed for show purposes. Shows dogs have weigh about six pounds or less, while the ordinary pet dogs may weigh ten pounds or more.
The personality and temperament of the long haired Chihuahua is the same as the short haired Chihuahua. Both of them are loved for their sweet nature and jovial personality. They are a very alert type of dog and possess a barking aptitude whenever they face any stranger. They can be excellent companions for the elderly and disabled individuals. Friendliness and socialization are their primary skills that make them so adorable to everyone. However, they are also known for their high-strung nature, hence sometimes it becomes really tough to train them.

Chihuahuas, both short and long haired, are not recommended for households with children. Chihuahuas belong to Toy group and are really nice for adults with their sensitive companionship. But their fragile bone structure and small size can lead to potential injury to them if they are handled badly. This may occur with little children. With their strong socialization skills they can make friends with other animals such as cats and dogs from other breeds.
Both the short and long haired Chihuahua are sensitive to temperature. Although they are well tolerant of warm weather, they cannot handle the cold. Many Chihuahua owners prefer to keep their dogs in coats or sweaters during winter and spring seasons. Similar to any other long haired breeds, the long haired Chihuahua demands extensive grooming in order to maintain the luster in its wavy hair. Regular care of the hair is necessary to eliminate knots, mats and burs as well as to keep them free from ticks and hitchhikers. Monthly bathing with residue-free shampoo is mandatory.

From a genetic angle, short hair is dominant over long hair. If both the partners are long haired Chihuahua, only then is it possible to have long haired Chihuahuas as offspring. It is the responsibility of the professional breeders to keep good breeding records of their long haired Chihuahuas, so that the highest quality in offspring can be effectively maintained. Quite obviously, a well-documented purebred is always in demand, hence the price is of course higher than others.

According to American Kennel Club (AKC), there are mainly two Chihuahua types known as short haired and long haired. If you are seeking basic Chihuahua information this article will provide it to you.
