This weekend I wanted to go for a movie and I decided to book the tickets for the movie which connected to a dog’ life. My husband was furious as he did not want to watch this movie. Anyhow I succeeded in convincing him and finally we moved to the theater for the movie. His first reaction was still very doubtful. He just asked me, “Don’t you think this movie must be an over-sentimental kiddies’ flick?” Firstly, the movie showed no sign of being a dog’s movie. I was surprised but then gradually the movie was full of pure love and puppy-like devotion. The story was actually based on a man’s life that had a pet which was none other than a dog, and the man’s life was full of joy and happy family life. Then all of a sudden his family met with an unfortunate accident and all the family members were no-more. He was left behind alone in the family along with his dog. The man was in sadness for a longer period of time and then the doctors suggested his friends that he needs some change. During this process it was showed how his dog cared for this man. The dog whole-heartedly looked after his master and would not leave him unaided even for a second. My husband was certainly moved by the dog’s feelings and was amazed that how these animals give in return even if the masters are unable to give them any love in this condition . These animals are always faithful and it was proved in this movie. The main plan of the movie was that the director of the movie was trying to show that people who have dogs as pets in their house know the reaction, but people who do not have dogs at home can think of adopting these gentle animals as their pets and feel the devotion of their love.

After seeing this movie my husband also thought of adopting a dog as a pet and he wanted to give the puppy the maximum care and love . He was so excited that the day he bought the puppy home, he wanted to celebrate it and declared that this day would be his birthday henceforth. When we surfed to one of the leading websites of the town, we found that there are several Dog clothes in the market for the dogs. The entire Small Dog Costumes were beautifully designed and we decided that we will place and order for the Strawberries Pajamas for our puppy. The material used for the Strawberries Pajamas was pure cotton and it was designed with different but sweet messages mixed with straw berries and little hearts. There were so many Small dog clothing that one can easily get confused to which one to buy because each of the Designer Dog Clothing is not only wonderfully and stylishly designed but also were affordable.

How Much Should You Feed Your Puppy

by Pet Care on March 30, 2009

Puppies require continual nutritional support in order to maintain a healthy growing body. To keep up with their needs they should have food available to them throughout the day.

There are three popular methods for feeding your new puppy.

Mealtime Feeding

Portion-Control Feeding

Free Feeding

Mealtime Feeding - This methods is idea for young puppies who are being housetrained. This technique usually involves mixing solid food and canned food. Your puppy gets her meals at different times throughout the day. Most dog owners prefer to feed their puppies three meals a day, but there are some people who opt for four meals a day.

It doesn’t really matter if you are feeding your puppy three or four meals a day. The key is to remember to divide their food in equal portions across your chosen number of feedings. It is also more convenient if you schedule the feedings so you do not have to wake up during the night to feed your hungry puppy.

If you choose to feed her three times per day then every eight hours is a good schedule. If you decide on four meals a day then feed her every six hours instead. Keep in mind, however, that you should not reduce your puppy to two meals per day until she is at least five or six months old.

So what is the proper amount of food to feed a puppy?

Portion-Control Feeding - This is probably the most common method of feeding your puppy used today. This is especially helpful for those people who need to work during the day, leaving their puppy home alone.

In this method, you calculate how much food your puppy needs depending on her age, and type of breed. This amount of food is left in her bowl at the same time everyday, usually in the morning before you go to work. Remember to adjust the amount of food you are giving your puppy as she gets older.

By using this method your puppy will be able to nibble on food throughout the day as she gets hungry. Most puppies will only eat a small amount of food at a time. Some puppies will empty their bowls all at one time. However, studies have shown that puppies raised using this feeding method are less likely to overeat when they mature into adult dogs.

If you are having trouble house training your puppy then this method will probably not work for you and is best avoided.

Free Feeding - In this method you make sure that there is always food available in your puppy’s bowl. She is then allowed to nibble on it throughout the day whenever she likes.

This is of course the easiest method to follow since you just make sure you keep filling her bowl. However, it is the method least recommended by vets and breeders. Using this method to feed your puppy makes it harder to housebreak her since you are never really sure when she eats. You also do not have a good idea of how much she is actually eating on a daily basis.

Information about the Parasites That Can Invade your Dog’s Body

by Pet Care on March 29, 2009

The Itchy Fleas

A flea problem is quite common in dogs. And even if you bathe your dog regularly and are very careful about infestations, there are still strong chances of your dog getting a flea infestation at least once in his life. Even if you don’t take him out often he can still get them. Fleas breed at a lightening fast pace. So before you know the two invisible fleas on your dogs body can turn your dogs coat into a flea country. Be sure to get your dog some cheap dog clothing to keep the parasites from getting all over your dog.

Fleas are certainly not harmless as they can cause a condition called dermatitis which is caused due to flea bite. This condition is painful and can be difficult to cure. Since fleas are everywhere you will just have to find an effective way to keep them away from your dog.

Many times tape worm and anemia can also be attributed to a flea infestation in your dog. They can also be harmful for human beings since they are sometimes the carriers of bubonic plague. For fleas one place is as good as the other when it comes to breeding so nothing will be spared your sofa, carpet and couch will all be invaded by fleas if you don’t control them in time.

The Dirty Ticks

Ticks are another parasite that live on your dog’s body and survive by sucking your pet’s blood. They are more harmful than fleas because they can be potentially life threatening disorders like Lyme disease in dogs. They can also be the carriers of many other dangerous diseases. Generally to cause an infection a tick will have to stay on your pet’s body for at least 72 hours. You should be careful with ticks and try to avoid them instead of treating an infestation and distressing disease later. View these sky kennel crate and dog crate covers right now.

The Disgusting Worms

Worms are the commonest types of parasites that use your dog as a host and survive off his blood. They are endo parasites and live inside your pet’s body, sometimes in vital organs such as the heart and lungs. Worms are usually transmitted when your dog eats infected flees, ingests or sniffs the feces of an infected dog, through a mosquito bite. He can also get them just by walking since some worms can enter the body through the skin.

Worms are of different kinds and live in different parts of a dog’s body. Some very common ones are tape worms, round worms, hook worms and heart worms. When there is a massive tape worm or round worm infestation in the body, they are expelled through the feces of your dog and so they can be easily spotted. Round worms are flat and white and look like tiny pieces of spaghetti noodles. They are spread when a dog sniffs the feces of an infected dog.

Tape worms are spread through the ingestion of infected fleas; they look like grains of white rice. Hook worms are also caused due to the feces of round worms and they usually live in the intestinal tract. Heart worms are common in places that have a warm and humid climate. They are usually caused due to mosquito bites.

Heart worms are very dangerous and can cause your pet’s death. Fortunately there is a preventative medicine available against heart worms. Ask your vet to check your dog for worm infestations during his annual check ups.

Some Reasons for Grooming Your Pet

by Pet Care on March 28, 2009

Good grooming practices are essential for maintaining health and happiness for you and your dog.
Healthy skin, hair, nails and teeth are what define a well-groomed dog. Pet grooming is the practice of caring for the appearance of a canine for personal or showing purposes. Dog-grooming rituals include washing, hair clipping and cutting, nail clipping, powdering, hair styling and teeth cleaning. Grooming is important for your pet and is aesthetically pleasing to owners. It helps cut down on shedding and smelling, but will also lead to healthy skin, hair, nails and teeth for your dog. Grooming is also a great way to cut down on allergies and infections for both pets and their owners.
Grooming is sometimes difficult. Cleaning, brushing and clipping your dog while also trying to keep them calm can be a challenge for any dog owner. However, sometimes a good set of grooming tools can make the job much easier. Look into a good dog brush that thoroughly brushes as well as trims out excess hair. This will help you get to tasks done at once. If you don’t feel up to Grooming your pets yourself, there are hundreds of dog groomers who would love to pamper your pooch for an afternoon.

But it’s better to do and do your own pet grooming. This is a great way to bond with your pet as well, and if they like the whole grooming thing then they’ll be your slave every time you even bring up mention of the words pet grooming.
It is a special bonding time between you and your dog. You can also use this time to check your dog’s health. Look carefully for signs of fleas, ticks, skin irritations, lumps or painful spots. Check your dog’s eyes, ears and teeth regularly. Consult your veterinarian if you find anything unusual or concerning. It’s important to get him used to it from an early age. Many dogs learn to see their routine brushing as an alternate petting, another source of affection and attention. A good quality Pet brush and comb will help you with your dog’s coat, but also remember that your dog’s eyes, ears, and nails require attention as well.
The main reasons for daily grooming include:
• Enhanced health of the skin and coat
• Reduces the chance of various health problems such as thrush, scratches, and other skin problems
• Make the dog hygienic
• Allows the groomer to check the dog’s health, such as looking for cuts, heat, swelling, lameness, or a change in temperament (such as depression) which could indicate the dog is sick
• And the important reason is it helps to form a relationship between dog and owner

Using Pet Cages To Train Your Puppy

by Pet Care on March 27, 2009

Keys To Make Training With pet crates More Effective

When it comes to teaching your new pet to have the desired behavior, there are many benefits that are offered through crate training your new puppy. This type of training will also create a place that is safe and secure for the puppy to sleep and rest, a place that is all his own. This will be the perfect place for him to go when you need to place your concentration else where. Other benefits are those of teaching your pet not to chew on such things as shoes, furniture or even your bedspread.

One of the most valuable benefits is that of housebreaking your pet. By using this method to housebreak your pet, they learn from a very early age not to do their business in the same area as their sleeping area. This will teach him to hold his urges to go until he is in the appropriate environment. This training is very effective.

Purchasing The Right Pet Cage Or Crate For Your Pet

Before you bring your new pet home, it is recommended that you look for the best deal on pet cages for sale first. This will allow your pet to get used to his surroundings and area from the very beginning making the training much easier. Before purchasing the crate for your pet, you want to make sure that it is the best one suited for the pet it is going to be housing. It needs to be able to house him properly, he needs room to sit, lie and stand as well as turn around in. however, you want to make sure that it isn’t so big that he turns one corner into his own personal latrine.

One great type of pet cage is one that will grow as your puppy does. This type of crate has removable dividers that can be removed as needed to give your puppy the room that he needs to move around. You can place a blanket as a sleeping area for your pet and even include a chew toy. You want to place any food or water for the puppy on the outside of the crate in a separate area.

Once you bring your new pet home, do not place him immediately into the cage. Instead let him wander around and get used to his surroundings and let him venture into the area on his own. This is the most effective way for him to be trained.

When Should You Use Your Puppy crate Training

Within the first few hours of your new puppy being in your home, he should be well accustomed to his crate. Once this has been established, you can confine for overnight sleep or short periods of time when it is difficult to keep an eye on him. Unless confining for a good nights sleep, you should never keep your puppy confined within the pet cage for more than a few hours at a time.

During the daytime, make sure that you take your pet out regularly, as he may have to go to the bathroom more frequently. In many cases when a pet is confined to the space of a crate at very early ages that they are not sociable to others or other animals. For this reason, do not neglect to spend some quality time playing and cuddling with your puppy.

Using canine cages is very effective in housebreaking your pet. It can also be used for aggressive puppy training as it can teach them what they can and cannot chew on. Remember that your pets , just as humans require love and attention. Do not substitute the use of the pet cage for quality time with mans best friend.

3 Steps to Easy Traveling With Your Dog

by Pet Care on March 26, 2009

Traveling with your dog can be quite challenging. There are several issues that can arise while traveling with your dog in the car.

These problems are quite often stress or anxiety related. It is especially true if your dog is scared of the car or is not used to being inside the car while it is moving. Traveling by car can also be a challenge if you have a dog with loads of energy who just can’t seem to sit still for any extended period of time.

Some dogs may associate traveling in the car with negative experiences and that can also cause some issues.

If you are having problems getting your dog to travel in your car with you or even to just get her inside the car, practicing the following suggestions may be just the thing for you and your dog. Once she can get over her fears and anxiety traveling in the car will be a wonderful experience for her as well as peace of mind for you.

Practice these exercise for at least one week before your trip…

While your car is parked in your driveway open the back door and put your dog inside. At this point make sure the engine is not running so as not to scare her while she is inside. Give her a toy, a chew bone, or a treat and leave her in the back seat for a short while. This will start getting her used to being inside the car and the toy, bone, or treat will create the positive experience.

Once you can see that she is becoming comfortable with being in the back seat of the car, close the door. Make sure that the windows are down. Then you get in the drivers seat and sit there for a while. This will get her used to being inside the closed car with the reassurance that you are there also.

Finally, when she seems to be comfortable being inside the closed car, start the engine and take her for a short ride. It can be something as simple as a drive around the block. The idea is to get her used to being locked inside a moving car. Make sure she still has her toy or chew bone with her. After the drive is over be sure to give her a treat and lots of praise.

Now just repeat this process increasing the distance of the trip each time. Pretty soon she will begin to look forward to riding in the car.

If you can, take her on any short trips or errands you may make. For example, every morning I take Misha with me when I drop the boys off at school. As soon as they come downstairs with their book bags she runs and sits at the door, just waiting to go.

She enjoys the ride to school just laying in the back seat. When we get there and the boys leave, however, she starts to whimper. But that is a story for another day.
