Why Should I Get My Dog A Massage?

by Pet Care on March 4, 2009

If you want to give a lower body massage to your dog this article will guide you through a step by step process beginning from his neck and going down to his toes.

To remove the tension off the dog’s neck you should rub the neck area very gently. There are some muscles on the back of his neck. The skin covering these muscles is very loose so finding these muscles is very easy. Soothe these muscles by gently rubbing them with your fingers. Do the same with muscles on the side of the neck. Make sure you massage the area around the wind pipe gently any pressure applied here can be potentially dangerous.

Next with both your hands on his back, apply gentle pressure on the area around the spine. Make sure that your hands lie parallel to the spine without putting direct pressure on it. This should be done for a minute. Follow this with an open palmed massage on the side for another minute.

For the next step use your fingers to gently massage up and down in a walking motion on both sides of the spine. Follow this with firm yet gentle long strokes. View these dog sweater. You can find some that will be great for your dog.

Get him to lie down on his side and shift your attention to the top portion of his leg using gentle pressure. Give him five long strokes, starting at the side and going down to the top portion of his leg. Next take each leg in your hand and gently squeeze it for 10 seconds. Finally massage the leg tendons with your fingers. Each foot should be massaged one at a time by rubbing the area that surrounds the nails and the paw pads using small circular strokes. You will probably want to get a discounted dog cages to take your dog to the place to get a massage.

For the next step gently straighten and flex the leg joints a few times. If your dog has a hip, bone or joint problem such as arthritis or hip dysplasia try not to touch the affected area. If your dog reacts this way while you are giving him a massage you should know that you have touched a sensitive area and you should try to calm him down by gently petting him or giving him a hug before continuing the massage. Now remember which part of your dog’s body is sore and try not to touch it in future.

Massage the other two legs in the same way by turning your dog to the other side

To finish the massage give your dog long gentle strokes that start at the top of his neck and go down to the tip of his toes. Repeat this procedure several times. These dog clothes cheap are great for pets in the winter and will doll up a doggie after a massage.

My daughter Angelina just has an affection for her lovely puppy Zippos very much. All the time she wants to have fun with Zippos and she doesn’t have many friends with whom she spends her time. Even when she goes to the park to play, she takes Zippos along with her. Now, as she is so fond of her puppy, then she wanted some new Small Dog Costumes, toys, dishes and some accessories for him. She was insisting me that this birthday she wanted to give a dashing party to some of her friends. She was planning to celebrate Zippos birthday in a different mood this time.

When we had decided that we will throw a good party for Zippos birthday, then we wanted to buy many new things for him. So we planned that we will shop online rather to visit several malls for shopping. When we logged on to the website of the dog accessories, we found that there are varieties of gift articles, small dog costumes, toys, and many other things which we could buy for Zippo. Finally we made a decision that we will place an order for the Inspired Poodle Skirt Costume. Where the Poodle Skirt Costume is beautiful, then this is also true that it is designed with finer quality of cloth and construction . Whoever will see this costume will automatically get fascinated towards it. A black colored sequin on the skirt, with red bow and silver sequin gives an extra lure to the dress. This small dog clothing also comes included with a matching pink color scarf which is made of chiffon fabric. This dress is definitely very attractive and elegantly stitched giving it an additional marvelous look. Zippos was looking so sweet in this dress that many of our guests wanted to know exactly from where we had got this Designer Dog Clothing. There were clicking many photographs also and all were enjoying the party very much.

We were making out that not only our guests, but also Zippos and his friends were taking pleasure in the party because we had arranged for some delicacies’ for them also. Special cookies were ordered for them and a separate table was also placed for them. Angelina also wanted to give some birthday return gifts to all the other dogs that were present in the party, so we decided that we will present them some pretty hats.

You can save yourself a lot of time and money by training your dog at home instead of using a professional. If that is the route you want to go, check out the links in the article for a great resource.

I had a dog that I was ready to drop off at the dog pound because of bad behavior, but after going through puppy training classes he is a near perfect pet. We had a tiny little miniature schnauzer that weighed less than 10 pounds, but thought he was king of the world. This was a real problem with our young daughter who he was very aggressive with. He didn’t hurt her, but he thought he was her boss and we were afraid that he eventually would hurt her. After going to puppy training classes and being put in his place by another, larger dog, he has been a great pet.

You can check your local pet store to see if they know of any good training classes or see if they actually host some. Many of the bigger pet stores like PetSmart and lots of smaller ones have in house training classes. They aren’t necessarily put on by employees of the store, but they provide the facilities for a trainer to come in and facilitate the training of your puppy. In most cases, the training won’t be done for you, you will have to do it. The trainer will help you do the right things and also make sure your puppy interacts with the other dogs. The puppy training classes will usually be once or twice a week for a month or two and at the end, you should have a well behaved pet for life.

Puppy training classes will help you form an unbreakable bond with your pet in addition to teaching them how to behave. After spending quality time with your pet and watching them get better, you can’t help but form a lasting bond. This goes for home training as well as professional puppy training classes so you really can’t lose either way.

How To Stop A Dog From Chewing – Free Important Tips

by Pet Care on March 2, 2009

There are a number of things you need to consider if your dog is displaying chewing behaviors in order to effectively combat this destructive habit. The best way to learn how to stop a dog from chewing is to examine several factors:

First, what is he chewing? Cushions, shoes, his own feet? Some objects may need to be removed from temptation, especially while a puppy is still learning good behavior and self-control. Some things may be just too hard to resist. Others can be saved with the use of a bitter chewing-deterrent spray, which also works on feet and tails. Simply creating a terrible taste will likely be enough to stop chewing and prevent future episodes, without harming your pet.

Next, what is the underlying cause of the chewing? If a puppy is teething, she definitely needs something to work those gums on. Try offering a toy or treats specifically designed for this purpose. Even better, freeze the chew toy for several hours, then give it to your puppy. This will both relieve his teething pain, AND distract him from chewing other objects. Win-win!

There are, of course, other causes of chewing, including boredom, stress and loneliness. Your dog requires a certain level of stimulation, similar to a child. And just like a child, if your dog is ignored, this can lead to him getting into trouble if adequate activities and interaction are not provided.
Other Points to Consider

- When there are times in the day that your dog must entertain itself, tie your dog up outside or have it somewhere where it can not reach anything but its toys to chew on. Maybe give your dog a little chew treat, or even better, one he has to chew in to get some peanut butter or other food inside. Mental stimulation is key!

- Practice obedience training your dog everyday, and make sure he gets plenty of exercise. This will help stimulate your dog mentally and physically, and thereby reduce its boredom.

- Do not physically punish your dog, as this will only cause more anxiety, and most likely increase his chewing.

- Do not play tug of war or wrestling games with your dog. This will only encourage him to bite and chew – not a good thing!

- Never try to pull a toy from your dogs mouth. Instead, distract him with a treat, and remove the object once he has dropped it. You can also teach him the “Leave” command.

- Ensure that he has plenty of toys to keep him occupied while you are out. You may want to rotate them, for added interest.

- If you think he suffers from any separation anxiety, make your exits very low key, so as to cause as little stress as possible.
