Auto Transport Quotes: What you Must Know about your Pet Cat

by Pet Care on November 26, 2009

Cats are favored pets for about a thousands of years since – one, they are good friends and two they destroy and swallow house hold pests like rats. Besides these grounds cats don’t want extra attention and can get along with normal care. Cats are from the feline family and hence own many of the feline characteristics like hunting their prey, marking their terrain, constantly making their claws razor-sharp and so forth. You need to be aware of said feline qualities before you get a cat of your own. Some people find it very difficult to live with some of the feline qualities that many cats have. If scratching or shedding, as well as marking are things that you do not care for, then perhaps the cat is not the best choice of pets for you.

Cats have distinct body communication which may be associated with their behavior at that instant – fear, worry, anger, joy etc. They also meow, purr, snarl, grunt, trill etc to further show their feelings. A cat owner who can recognize the language of the cat may get by wonderfully well with his pet. Cats may weigh anywhere from 2 to 10 kilos. They tend to measure approximately 25 CM in height with a body length of 40 CM on a normal scale. Their tails alone could be 30 CM or more in length. A number of cat types are fuzzy while others are not. several cats have bushy tails while others have usual tails. There are a number of pure breed cats chosen by cat fanciers.

Cats have really sensitive parts like eyes, ears, nose and whiskers. As every one of their senses are highly developed they have the ability to sense any danger to themselves from very remote areas. In their eyes they have a reflective coating that makes them see easily even with a bare least amount of light. Their ears have nerve endings that notice even ultrasonic sound. This aids in their hunting since nearly all rodents make sounds in that range. Even though not as strong as dogs, cats also own a really intense sense of smell. The most useful part they have are their whiskers. They notice the attendance of a thing by a slight feel of the whisker or even with the differences in the air stream around them. The whole body of the cat has these whiskers even though most of them are situated around their mouths. All these together make the cat a formidable marauder. They are triumphant hunters that are known to be skilled to eradicate approximately a thousand species of animals for their food.

If you are thinking of relocating from your present residence then moving your belongings, vehicle and obviously your pets are something you will need to plan for. Cat Behavior Problems - Advice To Tame Your Cat

by Pet Care on November 25, 2009

In today’s society, more and more animal lovers and enthusiasts take on the role of being a responsible cat owner and thereby are bound to encounter a number of cat behavior problems along the way. This can perhaps be attributed to the fact that while cats are known to be one of the cuddliest, friendliest, most witty and affectionate domesticated pets out there, cats are also very temperamental, sneaky and stubborn in their inherent ways and behavior.

These cat behavior problems manifest because despite the fact that they really are pets, they still possess their own minds and have their own feelings. These cat behavior problems are usually triggered because of your cat’s usual habits or an immediate event that your pet dislikes. Here are some usual cat behavior problems and what to do with it.

Cats with Aggressive Behavior- One of the most common cat behavior problems a cat owner can stumble upon would be aggression. This behavior problem is known to cause damage in the house. In addition, cats with this issue are also known to pester visitors and start fights with other cats..

Going out and purchasing a scratch pad or ball of yarn might be a good idea in that your cat will be able to release his or her energy in the process of playing rather than damaging your belongings or possessions. On the other hand, behavioral problems in your cat that involve your cat being overly shy may be fixed by training your cat to overcome his or her inhibitions.

Cat behavior problems having to do with shyness need only be addressed by breaking your cat into the social circuit a little at a time. You may do this by playing with your cat by yourself first, and then progressing into letting your cat play with other relatives or friends one by one until he or she gets used to it.

Cat behavior problems such as shyness can be cured by gradually increasing the size of its social environment. By getting it involved in activities with other people it will soon develop tolerance and familiarity. Litter Training The most challenging cat behavior problems you can come across is litter training. It is very irritating to have your cat unload just about anywhere in the house. This should be corrected as soon as possible because the longer you wait to take action; the harder it will be in breaking its bad habit. .

The above mentioned cat behavior problems are only some of the ones any cat owner is bound to encounter, and the ways cited through which said problems can be countered may or may not be successful. It is important to remember that all cat behavioral problems are relative and should be handled on a case to case basis. Not all cats are the same and this goes for the treatment of their cat behavior problems also.

Cats are nocturnal chasers and their eyes are so powerful that they could see in the night really clearly. They could hear ultrasonic sounds and high frequency sounds. Rodents emit ultrasonic sounds which could be heard by cats and that is how cats chase the pests easily. Their whiskers could sense a touch and air flow changes. This too helps to steer effortlessly at night. Their sense of smell is extremely operational too and they could smell clearly from very far away if the wind direction is right.

Tick Paralysis - Note the Warning Signs

by Pet Care on November 23, 2009

It is caused by ticks which excrete a toxin that affects the nervous system of mammals, more specifically caused from female tick bites, and it can turn deadly if not treated. What happens, is that a tick bite can produce a flaccid paralysis, which leaves your dog with no muscular tone, feeling weak. It can vary depending on what kind of dog you have, as not all dogs or mammals are affected by ticks, and even some animals only have their hind limbs affected.

In some other pets, the condition can become extremely critical where the condition can ascend up the body and affect the front limbs and even the muscles required for breathing. Therefore, you should always know how to distinguish the signs of paralysis caused by ticks, so that you can get the symptoms under control and remove the ticks before things turn worse.

Read on to find out how you effectively get rid of the affects of a tick bite.

Warning Signs

Unfortunately, the signs usually start about five to seven days after the tick has started feeding, but the good thing is that it will usually take multiple ticks feeding at the same time to elicit the paralysis. You may notice that your dog suddenly seems weaker and has poor coordination with his/her hind legs, which are the very first clues that your dog has been bit by a tick. Your dog may also exhibit difficulty in chewing, breathing, and swallowing, and there will also not be any signs of a fever.

Whenever you notice your dog struggle with mobility, you should always take note if any of his/her symptoms relate to the above, so that way you can get your dog treatment immediately if they are in fact infected.

Diagnosing the issue

Normally, tick paralysis is diagnosed based on the onset of paralysis itself, and of course a rapidly worsening condition.

It also can depend on the seasons of the year, but rapid recovery occurs the instance that the ticks are removed. Even though the diagnosis comes from the signs and symptoms, you should still regularly check your dog for ticks, especially if you are often in regions where there are lots of ticks; and also if you notice your dog behaving strangely all of a sudden.

Cures for Tick Paralysis

Since the ticks can be removed, all you have to do is find them. This may be difficult if your dog often has a lot of fur, which means you may have to literally shave your dog to find the tick(s), before they cause serious damage to your dog.

Your dog may require more supportive care, such as artificial respiration, once the ticks are out, depending on how much damage was done.

There is also an antitoxin available to be given to your dog, and it can be procured quickly.

How To Know If Your Rabbit Is Getting The Good Food

by Pet Care on November 22, 2009

Most pet owners know that a rabbit’s diet will consist of things like water, pellets and vegetables. When it comes to fruit, it is important that this is only given on an occasional basis, as they can be bad for your rabbit’s health. Rabbits require a constant water supply as they dehydrate quickly. In order to help you care for your rabbit properly, please find below some rabbit food tips.

Pellets

Rabbits are generally fed a pelleted feed available from pet stores, supermarkets, and farm suppliers. An interesting fact is that pellets were once primarily used by the breeders who needed inexpensive food.

Hay

As well as pellets, all rabbits need hay in their hutches. Rabbits sometimes have digestive problems, but as long as there is enough hay in the hutch, they are sure to stay much healthier. As well as this, hay is also full of vitamins which your rabbit needs. Most rabbits enjoy nibbling on hay and this prevents them from chewing other things, so it is definitely useful to have.

Treats

In addition to hay and pellets, there are also many different rabbit food treats available. Don’t overdo the treats though, as they are bad in large quantities. Most treats sold in pet stores are filled with sugar and high food energy carbohydrates. If an owner is determined to feed the rabbit treats, the best treat to provide it with is fruit.

Acceptable fruits (seeds and pips MUST be removed): Banana, Mango, Pineapple, Peach, Apple, Kiwi, Berries, Orange and other citrus fruits.

Fruits or other treats must be given in moderation, as rabbits easily become overweight and suffer health problems. Their diet should consist of no more than half a tablespoon of fruits or treats per day.

However, fresh fruits should not be given to rabbits under the age of 4 months because their digestive systems are not always developed enough to handle the fruit. The worst case scenario is when fruit can cause enteritis which can be deadly in a very short space of time.

Please also note that lettuce isn’t recommended either, as it can also cause rabbit death due to the lack of nutritional value.

Caecal pellets

Something else you should be aware of is that some rabbits do eat their faeces. What many people don’t realise is that these faeces are called ‘cecal’ pellets and rabbits get a lot nutritional value from eating them. A rabbit needs to stay healthy, and cecal pellets help to give your bunny a good supply of vitamin B12. Due to the design of the rabbit’s digestive system, they cannot extract some vitamins and minerals directly from their food, so that is why they eat faeces. Don’t panic though, as this is normal practice.

The Horse Was Obviously Abused and Suffering from Horse Depression

by Pet Care on November 21, 2009

The story was really sad. The horse sure was depressed but the owner couldn’t figure it out. They brought in a very large, beautiful horse which, we could tell, had more years behind it than ahead of it. They loved the horse however and didn’t want to see it spend its final years suffering with equine depression. The horses had lots of space to run on a great big farm. It really is the idyllic setting for the life of a horse. It was because of this that the whole depression scenario was difficult to understand. The horse was suffering from equine depression even though it was living on a proverbial retirement home for horses? That doesn’t make much sense. Animal Chiropractic

I asked the owners some questions and probed them a little. It turns out that they had an old silo on the farm. The kids liked riding the horses in a meadow and the path led past the old silo. The reason for the equine depression became more clear when I asked what was in the silo. For whatever reason, when animals died on the farm they used the silo as storage for the dead animals. The owners explained that as the kids forced the big horse up to and past the silo the horse would hesitate and then bolt past the silo and into the meadow. The kids loved the speed that the horse would reach and would do it repeatedly.

They didn’t realize that the horse was running so fast because it was so scared. The fact that the horse was being abused didn’t cross their minds. When we explained that this was likely the reason for the equine depression they were horrified. They apologized profusely and offered to accommodate any lifestyle correction we would offer. After offering a few suggestions we spent a great deal of time and effort making corrections in the horse for animal depression using the therapies that we have here. The outcome was very pleasing for both of us. Horse Pain Relief

Love Your Dog? Give Her Proper Training

by Pet Care on November 21, 2009

Dogs are the best loved of pets in the United States. They have so many characteristics in such a variety that even cat lovers can find some type of dog to love. Whether it has cute, floppy ears or a strong build; whether it is the best friend of the kids or a hard-working dog, there’s a breed for everyone. But, no matter what type of dog you choose, there is an important first step to integrate the dog smoothly into the family. That step is to properly train the dog. An untrained dog can be disruptive to the family and even destructive. In the East, good choices are Dog Training Philadelphia style or Dog Training NYC style.

Once the dog is trained, it will become a loyal companion. When you take it for a walk in the park, it will be content to trot alongside you on the leash. When visitors come to your house, when the dog does not to jump on them. The visitors will be able to greet the dog on their terms, which may range from a shy “Hi, dog” to slobbery hugs and kisses. You can even train the dog not to jump on the furniture, which will reduce the inevitablecoating of fur on the sofa. As you know, dogs are pack animals, and you need the pack leader to be the human and not the dog.

Once your favorite dog is obedience trained, the fun training can begin. Dogs like to please their people and they love little treats. These traits mean that dogs often have as much fun learning tricks as the masters have teaching them. With patience and rewards, you can teach your dog many tricks. The old standards are things like sit, stay, high-five, and play dead. Other fun tricks are catching a Frisbee, chasing a tennis ball, and flipping a treat from the nose to the mouth.

I have two final reminders. The first thing to consider the overpopulation problem. These are essential in today’s crowded world. Too many dogs are born, and too many must be destroyed. It is problem which has a tragic situation. The best way to solve this problem is to spay and neuter you pet dog. Another side of this problem is puppy mills. Puppies from puppy mills get a very unhappy start in life. The best way to do your part to solve these problems is to adopt a dog from a shelter. The final reminder is about what happens after the dog has dinner. Remember that, when you come down to it, the dog is a fur-covered colon. Every dog owner must be meticulous abour cleaning up the mess and disposing of it properly. You may think it is OK to take the dog to a wooded area and leave the mess behind. After all, that is how the bears do it. But keep in mind that when it rains the water washes the waste into the nearest stream. When you let your dog “go” in the woods, you are adding raw sewage to the watershed. Not healthy.

Stunning Animals Of The African Wilderness

by Pet Care on November 20, 2009

African mammals from the horse family, zebras owe their world fame for the black and white

stripes on their bodies that represent the very label of their individuality. From small groups

to very large herds, zebras are part of the African landscape and no one likes to come to the black

continent and not see these splendid animals.Click

through here for additional information about lion head tattoo.

There are three major species of zebras, the mountain zebras, the plains zebras and the Grevy’s

each with specific features and behaviors additional to the common traits. Imperial or Grevy zebras share wide areas in the lands of Kenya

with their plain zebras kin; they are the most similar to their horse relatives unlike

the mountain subspecies that resembles asses most.

Though limited to the African continent, zebras

have adapted to many diverse habitats from

savannas and grasslands to mountains,

hills and woodlands. Presently, the number of zebras roaming in the wild is definitely

smaller than a century ago since

hunting and the development of

cities at the expense of the wild habitat triggered number fluctuations among zebras. You

should find complimentaryinvaluable information about lion tattoo designs

here.

The zebras color pattern functions as some form of print, every individual is unique and the

members of a group are able to identify each other thanks to these very patterns. Moreover, zebras can get well camouflaged against lions thanks to the same stripy

skin. The stripes create the impression of waving grass

particularly when the zebras live in herds, under such circumstances the

monochromatic vision of lions doesn’t allow them to hunt very well.

Eyesight is a good point for zebras, not to mention

that scientists believe that they have a visual acuity

that makes them able to distinguish colors. Moreover, night vision is one other

remarkable skill together with a great sense of hearing. This complex alert system enables

the animals to turn their ears in all directions sensing danger in no time, and last but not least, unlike many other mammals the smell and

taste are truly remarkable as well.
You should obtain stacks of extra invaluable information

about lion tattoo designs here.

In terms of food sources, zebras don’t get to starve as

they are very adaptable grazers, feeding on herbs, twigs, trees bark, shrubs or leaves. Another anatomical advantage is the capacity of the zebras to live on small amounts of

nutrients, which means that any grass is good as long as it is not toxic.

When it comes to mating habits, there are specificities to each zebras subspecies, as some live

in harems consisting of mares guarded by a stallion, whereas others get in groups for a few months

every year to mate and then resume a more solitary life. The mating cycle takes

place once a year for females ending with

the birth of a single foal.
